9 months. :)

Almost finished with pregnancy. Birth off screen support is ready. And it's not only for workers, it's will works the same way for any character in game world too! Now, I need just a little bit more testing of this all.

But now, we need actual content to use new engine abilities. :) I already begin to think about first pregnancy related questline. :) Also, there is common problem for games focused on pregnancy - "9 months". :)

Firstly: yes - process modelled carefully and lasts about 9 month of game time (for human).
Secondary: no - I don't think it's very interesting - wait this much time, if you point of interest is birth or late stages of pregnancy. So, in game we need some possibility of speed up time. Maybe for all world, but preferably only for one character.
Technicaly it's very easy - just one string in the script, so - no problems here.
Though we need some "in game" explanation to this effect. What it will be? I have few variants, but not decided final yet.

If anyone have something interesting in mind, please feel free to write about you ideas in the comments.

  1. You could always resort to a Dragon Ball Z style time chamber that allows time to pass quicker within its confines. DBZ went with a year in a day, but you could make it whatever works best... a trimester a day/week.

If you like the idea, I'd also suggest that the player have to work pretty damn hard to access the chamber. Perhaps the chamber could be one of the projects that your doctor friend David S. Rif is working on for the company, and by helping fund the project, you're allowed a certain amount of access to it when it's finished. One girl a month, or something along those lines.

  2. First and foremost - great game Coder. My first experience with a slave management type game, and I'm really pleased with it :)

Here's a couple suggestions for your use (or not :P):

    - Another hospital 'testing' room sounds like it would fit the bill perfectly as well. Pill form for a lesser 'preggo-haste' effect, or via syringe for a greater effect.

The drugs could either instantaneously progress the pregnancy to a certain trimester, or simply reduce the overall length of gestation.

The lactation doctor would no doubt be interested in experimenting with breast milk production in the latter stages of pregnancy to further her research, for example.

    - A better fleshed out combat system is no doubt in the works, but perhaps a new enemy can serve in both causing and altering pregnancy as well. Crazed fertility doctor, wandering Preggomancer, the imaginative list goes on and on... :P

  3. Perhaps another doctor in the research ward could speed things along? Or the one already in the game who wants to test that implant?

Whatever you decide to use as an in-game explanation, you might want to make it optional in case some people do want to play during the whole process
